The Hallmark Hotel Stourport Manor is the latest hotel to get a Signia Turn Key makeover. The hotel is a splendid redbrick country house hotel set in grounds of 23 acres, formerly a Victorian Manor which was once home to the Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, on three separate occasions between 1923 and 1937.
Signia was asked to conduct a full inspection of the exterior of the older parts and newer additions of the hotel further to which extensive repairs were made to the accommodation block built circa 1980. Works carried out consisted of stripping back and re-felting the roofs and removing coping and ridge tiles to replace with the latest watertight coping and ridge tile weathering systems.
The original part of the hotel being some 155 years old was also inspected and found to have a considerable amount of tiles and felting that had deteriorated over the years. It was agreed that it would be more cost effective to cover the whole building with a waterproof scaffolding system so the entire roof could be removed and renovated throughout the winter months of 2015/16. The external wooden gable end supports for the roof were also replaced in some parts and extensive redecoration and renovation was carried out to most of the windows.
The inspection also found that there were elements of asbestos within the loft and roof structure. This was removed by a specialist asbestos contractor prior to works commencing on the roof.
As we were removing the roof and exposing the loft space the client considered and agreed to fitting this area out in order to create four additional rooms with en-suite bathrooms. As the hotel is renowned as a wedding venue these four newly designed and fitted out rooms are offered together as a wedding suite.
The Manor Hotel is a wonderful wedding venue and our brief is to make those special days even more special.

Throughout the refurbishment programme areas of the hotel in need of updating were also redecorated. The roofing and additional four hotel rooms are currently due to be handed over to the client at the end of June 2016.
